Our Kratom Recovery Specialty Track is a targeted, evidence-based program designed for clients whose primary or significant secondary substance is kratom—offering clinical, medical and psychoeducational supports tailored to the unusual features of kratom dependence, withdrawal (PAWS), and relapse risk.

What We Offer

• Specialized Curriculum: A targeted 120-minute daily group (1:00 – 3:00 p.m.) focuses exclusively on kratom’s unique impact — from its opioid-like properties to the misconceptions surrounding its legality and “herbal safety.”
• Integrated MAT & Withdrawal Management: Our medical team provides individualized stabilization using medications such as Suboxone when clinically appropriate, addressing both acute withdrawal and post-acute withdrawal syndrome (PAWS) common to kratom.
• Individualized Clinical Focus: Clients remain fully enrolled in PHP or IOP and attend all core programming, while receiving kratom-specific education, relapse prevention, and counseling during their specialty track sessions.
• Evidence-Based & Culturally Aware: Groups combine CBT, DBT, trauma-informed interventions, and relapse prevention work — helping clients challenge the distorted mindset and understand how kratom fits into broader substance-use cycles.
• Wrap Around Care: Our dedicated treatment team takes a comprehensive approach to assess, identify and treat all aspects of Kratom Addiction that create additional barriers to successful recovery. From the unique withdrawal factors to the heightened relapse risk, our goal is to help clients have the best possible chance at lasting recovery.

Why It’s Needed

Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is a legal, plant-based substance that acts on the brain’s opioid receptors. Many individuals use it believing it’s a “safe alternative” to opioids or a natural remedy for pain, anxiety, or withdrawal. In reality, kratom dependence and withdrawal can be severe and prolonged, leading to relapse, PAWS, and even progression to more dangerous opioids.

As kratom use increases nationwide — with rising reports of toxicity and overdose — specialized care is essential. Our track provides the education, medical oversight, and therapeutic depth needed to manage this emerging addiction safely and effectively.
